Dr. Marla Lichtenberger is a veterinary specialist in practice since 1987.  She brings a wealth of experience to Milwaukee Emergency Center for Animals both as the owner and as an Emergency & Critical Care specialist.  Dr. Lichtenberger started her veterinary career in general practice, continuing into an internship at the Animal Medical Center in New York and residency training in Milwaukee, leading to board certification in Emergency and Critical Care.

Dr. Lichtenberger’s contributions to the profession are extensive, having served on the executive board of the Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Association (2004-2006), president of the Milwaukee Veterinary Medical Association (2002-2007) and PR chair for the College of Emergency and Critical Care committee (2002-2007).

She is a frequent international speaker on emergency and critical care for small animals and exotics, as well as a published researcher. Dr. Lichtenberger’s peer-reviewed publications include the Journal of Veterinary Emergency Critical Care, Vet Therapeutics and Resuscitation. She is on the board of small mammal exotic pet committee, which is preparing the first ABVP small mammals board exam for 2009. Dr. Lichtenberger will be the first boarded small mammal specialist in Wisconsin.
