Monitoring is important to detect any possible problems early and take action if necessary. We use several methods to monitor the condition of an animal while it is under anesthesia. They include, but aren’t limited to, the following methods.
As you’ve undoubtedly seen in many medical shows about surgical procedures on humans, heart rate, respiration and blood pressure can all be observed with specialized devices. It is no different for procedures here at Milwaukee Emergency Center for Animals.
We also need to observe the depth of the animal’s anesthesia. This allows us to adjust the levels of anesthesia we’re administering while ensuring that we do not provide more than is needed.
If you have questions about how we monitor anesthesia, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
