Free Class for Puppy Owners

MECA Vet Offers socialization advice, Greenfield Public Library, 6:00-8:00 p.m.

By Steve Busalacchi

Puppies are cute as can be, but anybody who’s ever owned one also knows they can be rather exasperating. “The single most important thing you can do to help your puppy grow up to be a friendly, confident, reliable and happy family member is to socialize him or her,” says Manette Kohler, DVM, who is leading the class.

Kohler, of Milwaukee Emergency Center for Animals, has a special interest in behavior medicine and also volunteers her time locally to help modify dog behavior.

The free class runs from 6:00-8:00 at the Greenfield Public Library, 5310 W. Layton Avenue, on Thursday, January 26, 2012. Sign-up is required: http://www.erforanimals.com/pet-education/public-cpr-class/cpr-class-sign-up-form/ You may also call (414) 543-7387.

Attendees will learn:

  • How to socialize the puppy
  • Stages of puppy development
  • Preventing mouthiness and teaching basic manners
